Dee Dee and Shee Shee

Animals wearing knit itemsDee Dee lives all alone in a tree. Day and night she knits hats, sweaters and scarves which she tosses into a chute in the middle of her living room. The chute goes all the way down the tree and opens up at the bottom. Snails, caterpillars, chipmunks and rabbits would pass by Dee Dee's tree and help themselves to her knitted clothing. They love the fun fashions, but they have never ever seen Dee Dee, because she never sets foot outside of her home in the tree. All they could hear is Dee Dee's knitting needles working day and night. Clickity-clickity-click!
Shee-Shee looks into Dee-Dee's door
One day, a big giant monster named Shee Shee came to the forest and found the animals gathered at the foot of Dee Dee's tree, trying on various hats, sweaters and scarves. Shee Shee wanted one, too, but nothing fit. She was way too big.

Shee Shee knocked on Dee Dee's tiny little door. A pair of little eyes peeked out of a hole in the door. "Yes?" Dee Dee's voice trembled.

"I want a knitted hat!" Shee Shee demanded.
Shee-Shee sees Dee-Dee's Tree
Dee Dee took one look at Shee Shee and said, "Well... it will take me a while to make it. I've never made anything for anyone as big as you are."

"I want a knitted hat!!!" Shee Shee yelled louder.

Dee Dee was terrified. She got out her biggest knitting needles and started on Shee Shee's hat.
Dee-Dee knits Shee-Shee a hatDay and night she worked on Shee Shee's hat. Day and night, Shee Shee shouted, "I want a hat!!!"

Dee Dee had not eaten or slept for days. She knitted and purled as fast as she could, tears flowing down her cheeks.

The animals took pity on Dee Dee and climbed the tree to her home. The rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, birds, caterpillars, butterflies and snails all pitched in to help. Some of them brought Dee Dee some food. Some fetched her some more yarn. Some more helped her knit.
Shee-Shee's new hat
Before long, Shee Shee's hat was finished. Shee Shee went away happily, and Dee Dee finally made some friends. The animals visited Dee Dee's home often, and brought her food and gifts. From then on, Dee Dee was never lonely.

Saboosa's Burp (bedtime story)

Saboosa's Mom and Dad
One day, Saboosa was having lunch with his family, Saboosa's Mama, Saboosa's Daddy and Saboosa's Little Brother.

Saboosa's Little Brother wanted so badly to grow bigger than Saboosa, so he tried to eat more than Saboosa. Whenever Saboosa reached over to get some more food onto his plate, Little Brother would fight him for it. Saboosa let his Little Brother have whatever food he wanted.

After Saboosa had eaten enough, he let out a loud "BURP!"

Saboosa's Burp was so loud, that it echoed all over the house and all through the mountain and the forests around.

BURP!!! urp... urp... urp... urp... urp...

Saboosa's Big Burp
Saboosa's Little Brother was so jealous of Saboosa's loud burp. He quickly got a box and captured Saboosa's Burp inside it.

"I've got it now!" Little Brother cackled. "I've got your Burp, Saboosa!!!"

Saboosa pleaded with his Little Brother, "Let it go, Little Brother. Please!"

Little Brother ignored Saboosa. He brought the box up to his room.

Saboosa's Mama shook her head at her boys.

Saboosa asked his Mama if he could go and visit Bell in the forest.

"Go ahead, dear," Saboosa's Mama gave him a kiss. "Have fun!"

Saboosa walked down the mountain toward the forest. Everyone could hear him coming. Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Bell knew her friend, Saboosa, was coming to visit, so she met him halfway.

"Did you hear that loud echoing sound, Saboosa?" Bell asked excitedly.

Saboosa was glum. "Yes. It's my Burp."

Bell was impressed. "Your burp? WOW!!!"

"Yeah, well, my Little Brother caught my Burp in a box and now he has it in his room."

"No way!" Bell couldn't believe it. "We have to get your Burp back!"

"I can't. Little Brother would never give it back. And I can't hurt my Little Brother. He's so small, you know," Saboosa sat on a rock.

"Don't worry, Saboosa. I'll help you," Bell pulled at Saboosa. "Come on, let's go back to your house."

Bell sat on Saboosa's shoulder as they made their way back to the mountain. Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Saboosa's Mama was very glad to meet Bell. She was happy to see Saboosa with a friend.

"Where's your Little Brother's room?" Bell whispered to Saboosa.

Saboosa pointed to the door to Little Brother's room. Bell gave him a wink and snuck into Little Brother's room through the keyhole.

Little Brother was sleeping soundly on his bed. His hand rested heavily on the box.

Bell flew up to Little Brother's nose and tickled him with her wings.

Little Brother heaved and sneezed in his sleep, lifting his hand to scratch his nose.

Bell pulled the box open and set Saboosa's Burp free.

BUUUUUURRRRPPPP!!!!! URP... URP... URp... Urp... urp... urp... urp...

Burp in a box
The loud Burp woke Little Brother and echoed throughout the house and all over the mountain and forests surrounding. Then Saboosa's Burp flew up into the sky like a butterfly.

"Bye, Burp!" Saboosa waved from the ground below.

Saboosa Comes to the Forest

oldest tree in the worldDeep in the forest, there was a magic tree. It was the oldest tree in the world, and in it lived many fairies.

One day, the fairies heard a loud sound that shook the forest. Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

The fairies were frightened. They closed all the windows and doors to their tree home.

Bell, the brave fairy, flew out and followed the booming sound.

She found a large blue monster, whose footsteps made the ground shake. Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Saboosa comes to the forest
Bell flew right up to the monster's face and yelled at him. "Stop!"

The monster didn't notice the little fairy. He kept walking, shaking the forest as he went.

"I said, STOP!" Bell punched the monster on his head.
Bell meets Saboosa
The monster stopped, rubbed his head, and said, "Ow..." in a low voice. He looked around and finally noticed Bell. "Did you do that?" he asked slowly, pointing to his head.

"I did. I'm sorry," she replied. "I'm Bell. What's your name?"

"I'm Saboosa."

"Where are you from, Saboosa?" asked Bell.

"I live up in the mountain," Saboosa answered.

"What brought you here?"

Saboosa thought for a long time before he answered, "I wanted to make some friends."

Bell felt sorry for him. She decided a big monster like Saboosa would make a very good friend, so she sat on his shoulder and said, "I'll be your friend. Let's go this way!" She led Saboosa right to her home, the oldest tree in the forest.

"Watch out for low branches!" Bell warned Saboosa. She didn't want him to get tangled up in the trees. Saboosa was surprisingly gentle, for such a big monster.

"You better stay here," Bell told him, pointing to a mossy spot on the ground. "I'll tell my fairy sisters about you."

Saboosa sat waiting right where Bell showed him, while she went into her tree home.

Suddenly, a little green monster jumped on him, cackling, "I've got you now!!!" The little green monster tied up Saboosa with vines hanging from the trees.
Tied up in vines
"Little Brother, let me go!" Saboosa cried.

"I'll let you go, but only if you help me steal the fairies' gold!" Little Brother plotted.

"No!" Saboosa yelled. "Never! It's not right to take what isn't yours. Don't do it, Little Brother!"

Little Brother scoffed at Saboosa. "Then I'm just going to have to do it by myself." He ran off leaving Saboosa struggling in the vines.

Saboosa growled and stomped his feet, shaking the forest as loud as he could.

Bell was in the middle of a conversation with the other fairies, telling them about how kind and gentle Saboosa is, when the loud stomping and growling sounds reached them. The fairies trembled in fear. Bell flew out to where she had left Saboosa.

"What happened?" Bell asked, as she loosened the vines around Saboosa.

Saboosa told Bell about his Little Brother's plot to steal the fairies' gold.

Bell flew quickly into the magic tree and gathered her sisters together to where they hide their gold.
Little Brother taking the gold
The fairies found Little Brother filling a sack with gold coins. Saboosa grabbed his Little Brother, tossed the sack of gold back to the fairies and walked back to the mountain holding his Little Brother squirming and screaming all the way home.
